Week 8 20+ Yard Chart

This weeks 20 yard play chart has two teams I am watching. First when will the Texans allow a 20+ yard run. And second when will the Lions have a 20+ yard run. Im betting that the Lions remain shutout and the Texans will give up their first run of 20 yards.

Pittsburg Vs. Giants: You have to love this matchup as it appears to have the makings of a shootout. The Giants have allowed 35 passes of 20+ yards, which means that WR's Brown and Wallace both should be top 20 receivers. However on the other team I would be cautious going any deeper than Nicks and Cruz at the WR position, because the Steelers have arguably the best pass defense in the league.

Eagles vs. Saints: This is the last gasp for this lackluster Eagles offense. But they get a defense that has allowed 32 passes of 20+ yards and 9 such rushes. If you own Vick, Jackson, Maclin, Celek, Or McCoy start them all and take your chance.

Bengals vs. Broncos: This looks to be another shootout, and with that in mind Eric Decker should be considered a #2 WR. The Bengals have allowed 28 pass plays of over 20 yards and will likely allow many more vs. the top notch Broncos offense.

Fool Me Once, Shame on You. Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me!

You would think that everyone has heard the saying “fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me”, but apparently not NFL coaches, players and fans. Yes, in the NFL you must have a short memory, but the definition of stupidity is making the same mistake over and over again. So when you think about it, should athletes and coaches really have short memories, because if you forget about your mistakes won’t you make them again? Or should you have no regrets and learn from your mistake.

Take for example Tampa Bay’s coach Greg Shinano. The Bucs had the ball on the 1 yard line with 4 downs to score. On 1st down they handed off to Blunt. Bluntly said, an epic failure (shame on you). 2nd down, hand off to Blunt again, and failed once again (shame on me).Can you guess what happened on 3rd down? Hand off to Blunt, and you guess it, stuffed again(stupidity). All three plays leading to a fourth down boot leg that had no chance, and in hindsight cost the Bucs the game. This is one classic case of not learning from your mistake or possible stupidity. You have a 6’6 QB, why not try a QB sneak. There you go Greg, 1st down plunge by Blunt. Second down, QB sneak. 3rd down, pitch to Martin. 4th down, Fade to 6’5 Vincent Jackson. Now let’s be honest, this sequence may have yielded the same result, but at least you didn’t get fooled 3 times.

Ok let’s get the ego out of the way and talk about the Jets (can you really talk Jets football without ego). Rex Ryan guaranteed a super bowl 3 years ago and failed (shame on you). He guaranteed it again last year, and failed (shame on me). And for laughs he did it again this year (stupidy). And to top it off he brought in side show Tim Tebow. As long as the Jets sell tickets they are happy, but they never will be a super bowl winner as long as Sanchez and Ryan are at the helm.

Finally to fantasy football. Chris Johnson, O Chris Johnson. Did you start him? Well I didn’t, because I traded him. But at this point are you getting fooled if you start him, or if you sit him? I’m not sure, but I do know this, that he has three career games vs. the Bills, and had over 130 yards rushing with 2 TD’s in all three. So this was the product of a great matchup. If it’s me, he’s probably still a RB2 because of the thin RB position, but your likely unhappy if he’s your RB. If you start him, you’re not stupid. If you don’t, you’re still not stupid. This is what we call a no win situation.

Best of Luck this week, and if you have any other cases of stupidity feel free to post them below!
